Catching up on our Travels

Last post was July 1 so since it is almost August 1 we need to post another entry. We left Cape May and drove to Bowmansville, PA , had the Porters for dinner and then left the RV and spent a few days over the fourth of July at Patsy and Jim's. A very relaxing time and seeing Julie was a treat although we missed seeing Jeff. Bill enjoyed his round of golf at Merion with Jim (first time he has played this season).

From there we went to a wonderful campground in Lancaster County, PA. Our view out the front window was five miles of Amish farms and hills. Very peaceful and relaxing. Patsy and Julie came over for a day of shopping at the outlet malls. Bill spent a day learning about the Amish at an Amish farm. He is now just full of wonderful facts and figures - just ask him a question! Also went to the Railroad Museum of PA in Strasberg which was very interesting and fun. We were able to see the plaque we purchased for Dad on the Railroader's Hall of Fame. It was all very impressive and I highly recommend it to anyone in the area - train rides are also available - great place for kids to climb on old trains.

From there we went to Zelienople area to visit with the Wolfords. Had a great evening with Ty, Lynn, Tom, Jan and Mom Wolford at Rose Point Campground. Mom Wolford had some work done on her eye with no problems. Dinner at Tom and Janet's was a wonderful way to end our visit. Thanks to all. Being able to spend time with Mom and not have to drive two hours home was very nice.

On to Hickory, PA to spend a few days with Ronni and DB McCalmont (Barb's college roommate). Perfect spot to park the RV right across the street and being at the McCalmonts is like being at a beautiful bed and breakfast, (lunch and dinner). Ronni and I had time to relax, shop, catch up and shop. Bill and DB spent their time talking guns, target shooting, sighting deer and other wildlife. (Bill's favorite time was morning coffee time at the little store down the street with all the locals.) We even went to a local casino and lost a little money but had lots of fun. Their daughter, Pam and her husband, Dale stopped by and it was great getting to spend some time with them. Happy 2nd Anniversary again to them!

A trip back to North Canton was needed for Bill to visit the dentist but we also were able to visit with many good friends. It was a rainy few days but entertaining in our new home was really fun and we so enjoyed seeing everyone. Thanks to everyone for coming by and spending time with us!

From there we took the RV to Springfield, Ohio to leave it at a service center to have some more things corrected while we spent some time in Waverly with Dad and Ruth. Dad is doing okay but his spirits are low which is what we are most concerned about. He had a fall a couple weeks ago and hurt his knee and elbow. His knee was really bothering him but last week the doctor drained some fluid and he was feeling better. Tricia and the grandkids stopped over for one night and we all enjoyed seeing them. He was amazed how well they swim. The kids were preoccupied with Great-granddad's new kitten, Sammy.

We are now in the Poconos and planning on having dinner with Barb and Pat O'Flynn, (Jim Porter's sister), who have a vacation home up here. We went to a flea market yesterday and ate at an awesome train station, Dansbury Depot, turned into a restaurant. We plan to visit Bushkill Falls tomorrow and will be leaving here Wednesday on our way to Rome, NY to visit Bill's sister, Elaine and Dan Miller. Adirondacks and New England will be our destinations in August.

A Week at Cape May, NJ

After a long but quick drive from Florida to Virginia to pick up our new license tags for 'the bus' and visit with the Lossings for a short time, we finally settled down for a relaxing week in Cape May, New Jersey. "House looking" is so much fun in this town - wonderful, warm, inviting porches are incredible. The shops were a lot of fun too.

Patsy came down for a couple of days to experience the RV life. Had a great time shopping, walking, eating and just catching up. She has nicknamed the "bus" and calls it the "land yacht."

On Saturday we drove (car only) north to Chatham (just outside Newark) to attend the wedding of our nephew, Lt. Sam Miller and Katie Vandervort. It was a beautiful wedding and Katie is a very welcome addition to the Miller/Wolford family. Sam recently passed his bar exam and elected to join the Air Force legal team. They will be making their home in Albuquerque, New Mexico. As you can see Elaine and Dan's family continues to grow. It was wonderful seeing all of the Millers once again. (Also were able to spend some time with brother Tom and his wife Janet). Looking forward to seeing more of the Wolfords soon.

Our last day in Cape May was perfect weather - it was a fast week, but Bill couldn't leave the shore without a dinner of crabs so the chef cooked some "blues." He decided that the claws are great, but the rest is a bit too much work.
